College Supported ArtsThe Delmarva Peninsula is home to two nationally accredited universities. Salisbury University was founded in 1925 and now offers 54 undergraduate and graduate programs. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore was founded in 1886 and is located in Princess Anne, Maryland. In addition to strong academic programs, both institutions support a variety of cultural opportunities for the community.
National PerformancesWicomico County is home to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. This 6,000 seat arena hosts a variety of nationally recognized performances and concerts. Take in a Broadway play during a romantic weekend getaway, bring the family for the excitement of the Lonestar Rodeo or rock out to musical legends with friends—it can all happen at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.
Genealogical CenterThe Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History & Culture collects and preserves archival material, artifacts, books—including family history, maps and microfilm pertaining to the Delmarva Peninsula. The Center is open to all scholars, historians and genealogists researching the region of the Eastern Shore of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
