Wicomico Geocache Dash

June 9th 2012

The virtual trail will consist of caches hidden at various locations throughout Wicomico County. Geocache Dash participants have the opportunity to explore several of the area’s Hidden Treasures including parks, marinas, museums and historical sites. We're famous for our waterway caches, where kayaks will be FREE to use the day of the event (provided by Adrenaline High & Survival Products)! Join us Friday, June 8th at Mister Paul's Legacy Restaurant and Bar for the Pre-Dash Bash which will include an Intro to Geocaching Class, as well as the advanced class that teaches experienced cachers to use GSAK software to spend less time planning and more time playing! After the classes, please feel free to join us for dinner or drinks at the Social Hour! Activities for the kids will be provided throughout the evening!

Saturday, the Dash will begin at 8:00am. After you find 18 of the 22 Dash caches, bring your completed passport back to Winterplace Park to claim your coin! One coin will be distributed per geocaching username. Food vendors will be on site to fuel hungry cachers, as well as a bounce house, pickup cornhole, a magician, pickup disc golf and much more! Join us at 5:00pm for a presentation by Salisbury Zoo with live animals! Learn about the animals' native habitats, diets etc. The presentation will last 45 minutes. There will also be an optional all-you-can-eat crab feast from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Event Guidelines

To retrieve the coordinates and other location information for the geocaches, log on to www.geocaching.com

Search for the 22 caches: Click on “Play”. Select “Hide and Seek a Cache”. Search for "WGD 2012". A bookmark list will be created on the day that the caches publish and can be picked up at Winterplace Park.

Locate at least 18 of the 22 caches. Record the code word from each of those caches on your passport.

Take a picture of yourself at the cache location with the container and post it to the corresponding Geocaching.com cache page.

Bring your completed passport to Wicomico County Geocache Dash Celebration event (GC3E3BP) the night of June 9, 2012!

Oh my! What a WONDERFUL event! Today was truly a grand adventure and a lot of fun. Thanks for such a great, well-organized event. The 2011 Wicomico Geocache Dash was awesome! Came with hksfarm, kidcachedj, and peanut-austin. We had a great time I loved the views in the park and the nature trails. My sons loved the spongebob moonbounce and the tattoo's and candy. I loved the fruit smoothies which were perfect on a hot day. Thanks for a wonderful event. Keep up the great job at throwing such extraordinary events. Thanks!

Run & Hike
With our caching done we enjoyed the food and fellowship that make for a great event!
All the activities, awards and prizes made this really enjoyable! We had so much fun today that we overlooked the fact that Whitehaven was find #2,500 for us! Thanks to Wicomico Parks and Recreation and everyone else who made the Wicomico Geocache Dash a reality!

AL's Guide
This sure was a great way to end a day of caching and made everything perfect. I really like the coin and ate tons of corn and crabs. Glad my name did not get pulled for a prize because it would have interrupted my feasting. Geesh, we were so psyched up we went out and got seven more caches before hitting the hotel. Thanks to all for all the fun.
