2009 Health and Wellness Expo Schedule
Take control of your health at the free community Health & Wellness Expo. The Wicomico County Convention & Visitor’s Association and Peninsula Regional Medical Center have partnered once again for this exciting event at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center which features over 30 free health screenings, entertainment and health-related exhibitors.
Health care professionals from Peninsula Regional Medical Center will be on site offering the following screenings (Appointments are not needed for any of these tests. They will be done on a first come first service basis)
Friday, March 27 from 5pm-8am and Saturday, March 28 8am-4pm
- Lower Extremity Circulation (Ankle Branch Index) (Screening for circulation problems of feet and legs)
- Upper Body Circulation
- Hearing in the Wagner Wellness Van
- Scoliosis (Check children for curvature of the spine)
- Vision
- Blood Pressure
- Height & Weight
- Head & Neck (Oral) (Mouth and neck will be examined for any signs of cancer or other oral problems)
- Skin Cancer (Person will be examined for skin cancer)
- Breast Cancer Risk Assessment
- Bone density (Osteoporosis Dexa Screening)
- O2 Saturation (Level of oxygen in your blood)
- Spirometry (Lung capacity – when you breathe deep how much air you inhale. Person’s with lung problems do not breath in the normal amount of air)
- Fall Risk Assessment/Balance
- Peripheral neuropathy of feet (Screening for loss of sensation in the feet)
- Waist measurement (Waist measurement can indicate risk for heart disease and diabetes)
- Body Fat
- Grip Strength (Screening for strength in your arms)
- Flexibility (Person will sit on floor and reach as far forward as they can. How far they reach will indicate their flexibility.)
- Carbon Monoxide (Screening for carbon monoxide in your blood - Person will breath into a machine which tells if you are breathing out carbon monoxide.)
- Mood Disorder Screening (Screening for depression and other mood disorders. This is a written and oral assessment)
- Stroke Assessment (written and oral assessment of risk for stroke)
- Diabetes Risk Assessment (This is a written/oral assessment of your risk of developing diabetes)
- Sleep Apnea Assessment
Saturday, March 28 8am-12pm (Noon)
- Cholesterol, Glucose, BUN, Calcium, Electrolytes, Creatinine Must Fast for 12 hours.
- Breast Exams
- Kidney Assessment
- Foot Checks
- Varicose Vein Screening (Check for varicose veins and make treatment recommendations)
- Carpal Tunnel Screening
Saturday, March 28 10:30am-12pm (Noon)
The Health & Wellness Expo also features live entertainment, an interactive demonstration of Peninsula Regional’s da Vinci Surgical System Robot, a Kid’s Health Corner and a Baby Rest Stop for nursing mothers.
